Born in 1978 and raised in Ottawa, Ontario, Rob Has
been playing music thoughout his entire life. After moving through several
different instruments, Rob discovered the electric bass in the seventh
grade and subsequently the upright bass in the eleventh grade.
He went to McGill University in Montreal, stuyding with Daniel Lessard,
Brian Hurley and current Principal Bass of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra,
Brian Robinson. He completed his Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance
with High Distinction in 2001. He then got a full scholarhip to attend
the University of Colorado at Boulder and study a dual-concentration
(Jazz and Classical) Master of Music degree. There he studied with Bass
Soloist Dr. Paul Erhard and his degree was expertly guided by trumpeter/educator
Dr. John Davis. Upon completion of his Master's degrees in December
of 2004, he moved back to Montreal to pursue his career in music.
Throughout his career, Rob has interacted with musicians in Ottawa,
Montreal and the Boulder/Denver area gaining experience in numerous
musical situations including jazz ensembles, jazz combos, chamber groups
and symphony orchestras. He also has studio experience, having recorded
several large and small group jazz sessions.
Rob continues to freelance in the Montreal and Ottawa areas.
